ELEMENTARY MATH COACHThe Elementary Math Leader will provide instructional support, professional development, and curriculum leadership to elementary teachers in the area of Math. This collaborative work with colleagues will be scheduled for 2 full days at each school through a coaching cycle developed with the Principal and Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction.Year 1: Coaching PD ONLY - teacher remains in the classroom and trains at least 2 days/month with TrainerYear 2+: Steps out of the classroom role completely and becomes the Elementary Math CoachThe role is “Teacher on Special Assignment” - seniority is maintained and, at the end of 3 years, can return to a classroom position or remain as the literacy classroom position or remain as the literacy leader. The ideal candidate will have:a comfort level developing/facilitating Math professional development with adult learners;experience implementing Eureka Math, specifically, and a workshop model, generally, in a K-5 general education classroom;a thorough understanding of the NYS Learning Standards for Math, the Math Practices, and current trends/best practices in curriculum design and instruction; the ability to facilitate lesson design and the implementation of instruction;at least five years of experience in elementary classroom instruction within the last 10 years. Responsibilities are inclusive, yet not exhaustive of: providing job-embedded Math professional development to staff at all grade levels; leading the modification/development of curriculum maps collaboratively across the elementary grades; on occasion, delivering in-service coursework after the school day (pay for instructor workload); meeting monthly with the Principal and the Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction; member of the K-12 Math Committee (no more than 2 meetings per year); alternating member of a district level steering team (no more than 3 meetings per year); reports to and plans with the Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction.NOTE: there can be up to 3 monthly meetings to replace faculty, grade level leader and grade level meetings, after that any meetings are paidBenefits of the role include, but may not be limited to:professional development in the role for the first year, continued support offsite in subsequent years;professional memberships, professional magazine of choice, 1 professional text per month;access to local, state, and national conferences in literacy (1 per year). Term: must commit to 3 active years as coach (in addition to the 1st year with PD)Evaluation: Exec Dir and Principal will have input Certifications Required: N-6 or B-2/1-6, additional Math certification is a plus
