The Haldane Central School District is seeking applicants for a probationary track, full time position as a Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This position requires a New York State Certification as a Teacher for Students with Disabilities (all grades, or birth - grade 2). The ideal candidate will have experience working in a special class setting with students who have Autism and/or have language-based developmental delays. The class will include children in grades K - 2 initially, and will be designed to provide intensive, language-based instruction as well as support with communication, social skills, adaptive behavior, social-emotional skills, and academics. The class will be embedded within the larger school setting and will include collaboration with the related service providers as well as opportunities for inclusion with partner general education classes as the students are able.The district is seeking candidates who are flexible, empathetic and skilled in using a strength-based approach to developing a structured, but creative, learning environment for a variety of unique learners. The position will require knowledge of behavioral principles, communication strategies, and classroom management techniques that are developmentally appropriate. The candidate must be adept at providing a structured daily schedule, using a standards-based curriculum adapted to the students’ needs, while also collaborating with, managing, and supporting the Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aide(s).
