The Haldane Central School District is seeking applicants for two anticipated full time positions as a Teacher Aide to start on September 1, 2023 to support learners in a new special education class (8:1:2) at Haldane Elementary School. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a special class setting with students who have Autism and/or have language-based developmental delays. The class will include children in grades K - 2 initially, and will be designed to provide intensive, language-based instruction as well as support with communication, social skills, adaptive behavior, social-emotional skills, and academics. The class will be embedded within the larger school setting and will include collaboration with the related service providers as well as opportunities for inclusion with partner general education classes. The district is seeking candidates who are flexible, compassionate and skilled with supporting students, maintaining safety, and working cooperatively on a team. Both aides will be tasked with supporting the functioning of the entire class under the direction of the special education teacher.The position will require the ability to engage with students in a variety of settings, i.e., in the classroom, at recess, during specials; often, students will need physical assistance to maintain safety and to perform daily living skills.
