The School Social Worker / School Psychologist /School Counselor shall:1. Hold a degree in Social Work ,School Psychology or School Counseling.2. Have ability to relate to and work with children with disabilities.3. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.4. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff,administration, parents, and the community.5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using propergrammar and vocabulary.6. Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 incompliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.7. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and fingerprint clearance hasbeen given by the Department of Education.8. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonableaccommodation applicable to New York State laws.9. Pass the State required Tuberculin Test prior to start date.10. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable.The School Social Worker / School Psychologist /School Counselor shall:1. Establish and maintain as positive, respectful and supportive relationship with all students and staff.2. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special area teachers, and parents.3. Report student attendance in school data tracking system on a weekly basis.4. Plan a counseling program for individual students including developmental guidance, interventions, andresponsive services.5. Collaborate with teachers to present curriculum-based guidance lessons.6. Confer with physicians, community health service providers, and parents about issues that affect studentlearning.7. Establish goals for a counseling program appropriate to the setting and students served.8. Develop plan to evaluate the counseling program and reflect on practice.9. Maintain an effective data-management system.10. Interpret cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests.11. Maintain and interpret student records including but not limited to IEP’s and transcripts and writereports.12. Assist principal and school psychiatrist in identifying and resoling student needs, issues, and problems.13. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.14. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire andgrooming, and effective work ethic.15. Display ethical behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agenciesassociated with the school.16. De-personalize students’ inappropriate behaviors especially when directed toward you.17. Support instruction, tutoring, and supervision of individual student or small groups of students.18. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising responsibilities and dutiesand disclose such information within legal confines with prior approval of administration.19. Adhere to all applicable Federal and New York State Board of Education rules and regulations and TheHallen School policies and procedures.20. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by theirsupervisor and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
