Position: Instructional Technology SpecialistDate: November 1, 2022Location: District WideApplication Deadline: November 21, 2022Starting Date: January 3, 2023Job Description:Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) is responsible for supporting and mentoring instructional and administrative staff and students in the integration of appropriate media and technologies in the classroom and across all schools in the district. The ITS aligns the district educational technology objectives to district curricula, the Next Generation Learning Standards and New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards. The ITS assists in developing instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement, instructional excellence and community support for technology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Work with a team to evaluate proposed hardware and software to ensure compatibility with existing district systems and instructional practices.Work with building and district leaders to plan, facilitate and evaluate professional learning opportunities focused on educational technology for faculty and staff across the district.Serve as the chairperson for the K-12 Technology Liaison Cabinet.Work collaboratively with the Data Protection Officer and district IT staff to ensure compliance with NYS EdLaw 2d and part 121 of the Commissioner’s Regulations.Collaborate with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology, align with state standards, and advance the Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition (SAMR) model.Model the integration of technology and media in classrooms and in all curricular areas.Create opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership skills in technology and media.Remain current on emerging technologies in education and evaluate potential applications of technology in the classroom.Recommend procedures and policies to the Director of Technology and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction on use of instructional technologies across the district.Assist in the development of the district’s Instructional Technology Plan.Implement best “and next” practices related to technology/media use in the school program based on research, pilot programs and state/national standards.Minimum Qualifications:Certified Teacher - Minimum 5 years teaching experience.Working knowledge of New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards.Advanced technology and media integration skills and demonstrated knowledge in reshaping the learning process through innovative instructional practices.Leadership and instructional ability in program evaluation and high quality staff development that fosters collaboration and continuity.Experience in collaborative group work focused on technology integration and media/information literacy.Ability to differentiate professional learning opportunities for faculty based on skill level and experience.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of forming a rapport with school staff and students across all grade levels and content areas.Salary: In accordance with the Guilderland Teachers’ Association (GTA) Contract.
