Duties DescriptionUnder the supervision of a certified teacher, provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher. Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise. Administer, proctor and correct tests. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interviewMinimum QualificationsTransfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer. Open to the Public: Possession of a current certificate issued by the NYS Education Department in one of the following: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant; OR Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate. Requirements for Continued Employment: Employees must maintain New York State certification as listed above in order to continue employment with New York State.
