Minimum Qualifications:Certification must be at the 7-12 grade level.Requirements for Appointment at Each Level:Teacher 2/SG 13: Current New York State Education Department provisional/initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty, or current comparable Emergency COVID-19 certificate.Teacher 3/ SG 15: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty, or current comparable Emergency COVID-19 certificate.Teacher 4/SG 17: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty, or current comparable Emergency COVID-19 certificate AND two years of post-certification (provisional/initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.Applicants who apply with the COVID-19 certificate must obtain their initial or professional certificate to remain employed. When applying for the examination and filling out the online questionnaire, you should select the initial or professional certificate you intend to obtain before the expiration of your COVID-19 certificate. Not having an initial or professional certificate after the expiration of your COVID-19 certificate will be considered a loss of certification and will result in termination of employment.Duties Description:Instruct a course(s) recognized by the New York State Education Department.- Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines.- Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans.- Conduct a schedule of formal instruction for residents of an Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facility.
