Position The Greenburgh Central School District, a PreK–12 International Baccalaureate (IB) district, seeks a dedicated, student-centered Elementary Teacher committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. The successful candidate will provide developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive instruction district curriculum while fostering foundational literacy, mathematics, communication, inquiry, and social-emotional development through engaging, student-centered learning experiences. The Elementary Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to meet the diverse needs of all learners, use assessment data to inform instruction, maintain high expectations for student achievement, and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), ongoing professional learning, and district initiatives that promote equity, excellence, belonging, and continuous improvement. Duties The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported. Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, district curriculum, and best practices in early childhood education. Differentiate instruction using culturally responsive, evidence-based practices to address the diverse academic, social, emotional, and linguistic needs of all learners. Foster the development of foundational literacy, mathematics, communication, inquiry, and social-emotional skills through engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and provide appropriate intervention and enrichment opportunities. Establish positive classroom routines, restorative practices, and high expectations that promote independence, responsibility, collaboration, and a growth mindset. Build and maintain positive partnerships with families through ongoing communication and collaboration to support student achievement and well-being. Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education teachers, English as a New Language (ENL) staff, related service providers, instructional support personnel, and administrators to ensure the success of every student. Maintain accurate student records, documentation, and progress monitoring in accordance with district policies and New York State requirements. Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), curriculum development, district initiatives, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional learning opportunities. Integrate instructional technology and a variety of learning resources to enhance student engagement and support effective teaching and learning. Support the mission, vision, and goals of the Greenburgh Central School District by fostering equity, excellence, belonging, and high expectations for all students. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee. Qualifications Valid New York State certification Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) and Childhood Education (Grades 1-6). Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual abilities a plus APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
