Position The Greenburgh Central School District seeks a highly motivated and student-centered Physics Teacher to instruct and inspire learners through creative and engaging activities and lessons designed to foster students’ understanding of physics concepts, scientific inquiry, and real-world application. The teacher is expected to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills while supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners, in alignment with district objectives and New York State learning standards. This is a 10-month position; duties and responsibilities are subject to change, and additional, related assignments may be required. Duties The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in physics, adhering to the district curriculum and New York State standards. Develop and implement differentiated, student-centered lessons designed to accommodate diverse learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners. Facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences, incorporating laboratory investigations, scientific research, demonstrations, and technology-enhanced instruction. Integrate physics content with real-world applications and interdisciplinary learning opportunities to enhance student comprehension and engagement. Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes positive behavior and maximizes learning potential. Ensure the appropriate use, maintenance, and safety of laboratory equipment and materials, strictly complying with all district and state safety regulations. Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress; analyze resulting data to inform instructional practices and improve learning outcomes. Prepare students comprehensively for Regents and other state assessments, emphasizing both content mastery and the development of critical thinking skills. Maintain accurate and timely records pertaining to student performance, attendance, and progress, in strict adherence to district and legal requirements. Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and guardians to foster student success and participation. Collaborate with colleagues, including special education staff, counselors, and administrators, to support instructional excellence and optimize student achievement. Participate actively in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and district-wide initiatives. Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in pedagogy and science education. Qualifications Valid New York State Certification in Physics (Grades 7–12) required. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual strongly encouraged to apply APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
