Greenburgh Central School District Position Title: Assistant Principal, Probationary Reports To: Building Principal Location: Woodland Middle High School FLSA Status: GAO Salary: $119,155 + GREENBURGH CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (PROBATIONARY APPOINTMENT) Position Overview The Greenburgh Central School District, a K–12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School District, seeks a dynamic and student-centered Assistant Principal for Woodlands Middle High School (grades 7–12), effective July 1, 2026. The Assistant Principal will support the Building Principal in advancing the district’s mission by promoting high levels of academic achievement, equity, and social-emotional development for all students. Essential Performance Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Equity Strong working knowledge of Part 100, 200 and 201 of New York State Commissioner’s Regulations Support and lead the implementation of the school’s instructional program in alignment with district priorities, IB philosophy, and NYS Portrait of a Graduate Collaborate with the Principal, instructional coaches, and teachers to analyze student data, identify instructional needs, and implement evidence-based strategies. Promote a culture of continuous professional growth, innovation, and reflective practice. Design and facilitate professional development aligned to curriculum, instruction, and assessment goals. Ensure alignment of the written, taught, and assessed curriculum to improve student outcomes. Support the integration of technology and innovative instructional practices. Implement and monitor the APPR process to evaluate staff, support professional growth, and address performance concerns. Student Discipline and School Climate Oversee and administer the student discipline program in alignment with the district Code of Conduct, Character, and Support Utilize restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches to address student behavior and repair harm. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to address behavioral and social-emotional needs of students. Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding disciplinary matters and expectations. Monitor and analyze discipline data to identify trends, disparities, and areas for improvement. Oversee MTSS process and develop and implement proactive strategies to promote positive student behavior and a safe, inclusive school environment. Support staff in classroom management and student engagement strategies. Leverage social-emotional learning (SEL) data to inform and enhance the overall school program. Coordinate re-entry plans and interventions for students returning from suspension. Master Scheduling and Operations Collaborate with the Principal to develop, implement, and manage the master schedule. Analyze enrollment, course requests, and achievement data to ensure equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities. Align course offerings and staffing with district priorities and student needs. Oversee the development and revision of the course catalog, including additions, modifications, and eliminations. Ensure accurate scheduling and data management within the student information system (e.g., eSchoolPLUS) Monitor and resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure all students have appropriate and balanced schedules. Maintain accurate records related to student enrollment, attendance, and course completion. Ensure equitable class distribution to support diverse learners. Assessment and Accountability Serve as Testing Coordinator for designated grade levels, ensuring compliance with all state and district testing protocols. Oversee the preparation, administration, and security of all assessments. Collaborate with the technology department to support digital testing environments. Lead efforts to monitor and analyze formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional decision-making. Support and supervise attendance processes, ensuring adherence to district policies. Use academic and SEL data to inform school improvement efforts and student support systems. Qualifications Valid New York State School Building Leader (or equivalent) certification required. Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) Certification. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience Minimum of two (2) years of administrative or leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data-informed decision-making. Strong experience in analyzing student performance data to inform instruction and professional learning. Proven ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders. Exceptional communication, organizational, interpersonal, and facilitation skills Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution and maintaining confidentiality with professionalism and timeliness.
