Position The Greenburgh Central School District is actively seeking dedicated and highly motivated Teaching Assistants to provide essential support for classroom instruction and cultivate a constructive learning environment for all students. Teaching Assistants fulfill a critical function by collaborating with classroom teachers to optimize student learning outcomes, assist with effective classroom management, and facilitate academic and social-emotional development. This role is highly suited for candidates who possess a deep commitment to education, demonstrate proficiency in working with youth, and value collegiality within an educational setting. The responsibilities outlined below are representative of the position and should not be construed as exhaustive. This is a 10-month position; duties and responsibilities are subject to change, and additional, related assignments may be required. Key Responsibilities Include: Provide instructional support to the classroom teacher for individual students and small groups. Reinforce lessons and facilitate student comprehension of instructional material. Contribute to the maintenance of a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment. Assist with classroom management and encourage positive student behavior. Support teachers with administrative recordkeeping, including attendance tracking and preliminary grading. Prepare instructional resources and materials, and assist with classroom setup and technology utilization. Supervise students during scheduled classroom activities, transitions, meal periods, recess, and organized field excursions. Monitor designated instructional programs and assess student progress as directed. Execute duties within community-based learning environments and participate in off-campus activities as required. Maintain effective communication with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to foster student achievement. Adhere to rigorous standards of professionalism, student conduct, and confidentiality. Qualifications Possession of a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Level 1, 2 or 3 Fingerprinting clearance required. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual strongly encouraged to apply APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
