Job Title: Bus Aide (Bus Monitor)Job Summary:The Bus Aide assists the bus driver in providing safe and orderly transportation of students to and from school and school-related events. This position involves helping students board and exit the bus safely, maintaining order, and ensuring the overall well-being of passengers during transit.Key Responsibilities:Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with physical or developmental disabilities.Ensure all students are seated safely and wearing seat belts, if applicable.Monitor student behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with school policies.Communicate effectively with the bus driver and school staff regarding student issues or incidents.Provide support to students with special needs, including securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices.Perform regular headcounts to ensure all students are accounted for.Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or administering basic first aid.Maintain a clean and safe environment on the bus.Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate school personnel.Attend required training sessions and safety meetings.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED (preferred).Experience working with children, especially those with special needs (preferred).Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.Patience, reliability, and a caring attitude.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist students physically, if necessary.Pass background check and meet any local/state licensing requirements.Working Conditions:May involve early morning and afternoon hours.Exposure to various weather conditions while assisting students.Physical activity, including lifting, bending, and walking.Riding the bus daily on assigned routes.
