Certified Occupational Therapist (Immediate Opening)Seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide the IEP mandated services for students placed through their Committee's on Special Education located at Greenburgh Eleven Union Free School District. Students present with an array of needs, including, but not limited to, sensory integration, sensory regulation, and fine motor skills.LOCATION: Greenburgh Eleven UFSD LAST DAY FOR FILING APPLICATION: Until Vacancy is Filled MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:Valid, Current, New York State CertificationGraduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program requiredFingerprint Clearance from the NY State Department of Education (NYSED)One to three years' experience working as an OT in a related setting preferredExperience working with special education students required MISSION:Greenburgh Eleven is a Special Acts school working with students who are classified special education and have individualized educational plans. Our smaller class size offers students the support needed to meet success. Our teachers plan and provide appropriate learning experiences to meet the various learning styles of our students. The person in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students, such that the students access the curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Provide direct instructional support to students in a positive environment.Employ specially designed instruction to improve the development of sensory-and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.Teach socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the students' individualized education programs (IEPs) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system.Modify the curriculum for students with disabilities based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.Establish rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
