The Greenburgh-North Castle Union Free School District is seeking a dual-certified Special Education/ELA teacher to fill an anticipated vacancy at Greenburgh Academy in Yonkers, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing ELA instruction to Regents-track and alternately assessed high school students. Many of these students present with significant academic and behavioral needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contemporary teaching strategies and their effective implementation, effectively guide and support student behavior in a positive and constructive manner, and have experience incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills within the curriculum, as well as:Proven experience in delivering instruction using a variety of teaching methods. Exceptional ability to tailor instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of individual students. Demonstrated experience in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and creating a positive and productive classroom environment. Proven experience in successfully educating students with significant behavioral challenges and complex communication requirements.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and families.Strong ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support student success.Disabilities Served: Emotional Disability (ED), Autism (AU), Learning Disability (LD), Speech Impairment, Other Health Impairment (OHI).Class Ratios: 8:1:1 for core academics, 12:1:1 for electives.Certification Requirements: Students with Disabilities 7-12 (Required), ELA 7-12 (Required).Compensation: Commensurate with experience, as per contract.Greenburgh-North Castle UFSD is a leading New York State Special Act public school district serving over 450 students aged 9-21 across four schools in multiple counties.
