Job Description: Guide students toward making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible young adults and to provide students with the skills to utilize solution-based thinking and strategies to be successful both in and outside of school.Qualifications:NYS Certification requiredBilingual in Spanish, preferredFingerprint clearanceEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Gain a deep understanding of each student’s abilities, interests, and goalsWork with students in course and subject selection in correlation with their short- and long-term goalsWork with students toward meeting the requirements for high school graduationAssist students new to the school in becoming oriented to the school communityGuide students in evaluating career interests and choicesProvide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturityWork with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problemsMaintain student records and protect confidentialityConfer with parents whenever necessaryCollaborate with teachers and staff members to familiarize staff with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department, and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseledOther duties as assignedLocation: Glen Cove High SchoolEffective: 2024-2025 School Year
