Serve as the College & Career Specialist for the High School Guidance Department.Qualifications:NYS Certification requiredBilingual in Spanish, preferredFingerprint clearanceEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Gain a deep understanding of each student’s abilities, interests, and goals Work with students in course and subject selection in correlation with their short- and long-term goalsWork with students toward meeting the requirements for high school graduation; guide students in evaluating career interests and choices Assist students new to the school in becoming oriented to the school communityProvide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity; work with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems Maintain student records and protect confidentialityConfer with parents whenever necessaryCollaborate with teachers and staff members to familiarize staff with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department, and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseledServe as point of contact for school counseling team and building administration Coordinate the annual course selection presentations for students and staffCoordinate and lead student and parent informational events related to all college and career processes Organize College Fair, Career Fairs, Admissions Events, etc.Oversee transcript verifications for students and parents in relation to college and career applicationsCoordinate Senior Scholarship DisbursementCo-lead School Counselor Department Meetings under the direction of the building principalServe as SAT/ACT, College Board, NCAA, and SUNY Empire liaisonInvolved in community, district, and building committees to maintain updates for all topics related to College and Career Planning and High School Graduation Requirements and NYS Graduation PathwaysOther duties as assignedLocation: Glen Cove High SchoolApplication Instructions: Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a resume and letter of interest to Andrew DiNapoli, before the deadline.
