Glen Cove City School District is committed to recruit and hire the most qualified staff members who are dedicated to the success of all students and the Glen Cove City community.Job Description: Guide individual students and groups of students toward gaining essential knowledge and skills as prescribed by the certified teacher.Qualifications:NYS Teaching Assistant Certification or Teaching CertificationExperience working in a public or private school setting, preferredExperience working with students with individualized educational plansFingerprinting clearance required Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Support the implementation of a specialized educational planSelect and implement appropriate instructional materials and activities based on the direction provided by the certified teacherConduct learning exercises with individual and/or small groups of studentsKnow and use appropriately varied strategies and materials for core academic and/or technology skillsImplement and track behavior plansAssist with the de-escalation of students who are in crisis under the direction of a mental health professionalSupervise and secure the safety of students who are at-risk for elopement, aggression, physical injury, and/or any other at-risk behavior as identified by the Committee on Special EducationComplete an assignment for an individual student program or a class programAbility to support a program outside of Special Education in the capacity of a Teaching Assistant Other related duties as assignedLocation: Elementary or SecondaryEffective: 2024-2025 School YearApplication Instructions: Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a resume and letter of interest to Andrew DiNapoli, before the deadline.
