VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT READING TEACHERPROBATIONARYSalary: As Per Contract Glen Cove City School District is committed to recruit and hire the most qualified staff members who are dedicated to the success of all students and the Glen Cove City community.Job Description: Develop language acquisition and cognitive literacy skills while encouraging active student engagement.Qualifications:New York State Reading or Literacy CertificationExperience with Reading Intervention Instructional Programs, including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LLI, Seeing StarsBilingual in Spanish preferredFingerprinting clearance requiredEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Teach targeted literacy interventions to small groups of students using research-based strategies and resources; implement strategic, data-driven reading instruction for small groups of students in alignment with the RtI Framework for Tier II & III interventionAlign instruction with the Next Generation Learning Standards by applying knowledge of the Science of Reading and its implications to enhance student learning and literacy outcomesImplement and support a Responsive Literacy Program by delivering instruction using Units of Study in Reading, Writing, and Phonics; applying Fundations; and utilizing the Workshop model to promote student engagement and literacy developmentUse appropriate reading materials during small group instruction aligned to student-specific goals & learning needs Administer reading assessments in alignment with District Assessment Calendar to assess individual student needs and implement appropriate interventionsFoster a positive and inclusive classroom environment by utilizing strong communication and classroom management skills, while differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning levels of all studentsCollaborate with colleagues as well as school and district administratorsCommunicate student progress with families, including maintaining records and providing evidence of growth and progress to parents and studentsComplete other duties as assignedLocation: ElementaryDeadline: May 12, 2025Effective: 2025-2026 School YearApplication Instructions: Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a resume and letter of interest to Andrew DiNapoli, before the deadline.
