VACANCYLiteracy Coach Posting Grades 3-5Requirements:• NYS Teaching Certification• Successful experience using the Teachers College workshop model and Units of Study• Advanced Degree in Literacy PreferredResponsibilities:The Literacy Coach will play a major role in supporting best practices for Tier I instruction using the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project workshop model. The successful literacy coach has a desire to connect with others, assumes good intentions, is non-judgmental, trustworthy, and fosters a comfortable and safe partnership with colleagues. In addition, the coach is flexible, has strong time management skills, and is committed to improving outcomes for all students.• Engage with grade-level teams to unpack upcoming units of study, review unit-at-a-glance, and share materials to support successful implementation of units• Meet with teachers one-on-one to discuss teaching strategies and provide on-going professional support• Help to select and plan effective lessons and assessments for grade-bands and support implementation of units of study across grades• Observe teachers at work and provide feedback on their teaching techniques in support of professional growth• Model practices that have been proven effective to support teachers in their own growth and development• Use assessment data to help teachers identify areas that may require further instruction and to encourage practices that will support these areas• Leverage student assessment data to support teachers in modifying instruction to support student growth in reading and writing• Present professional development for school faculty in response to student needs and in alignment with instructional vision, including collaborative planning for TCRWP Staff Development Visits and Teacher In-Service• Meet with administrators and staff developers to discuss school goals, analyze student assessment data, and strategize on how best to support teachers and students• Engage in ongoing professional development to further understand research-based practices and new developments in literacy education• Support and train new/early career teachers in the TCRWP Workshop Model & Fundations to ensure successful implementation
