The Position:The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the administrative team to empower students and maintain excellence in academics, athletics, and overall student engagement.The District:Garden City is located twenty miles east of Manhattan in the heart of Nassau County, Long Island. Close to 3,900 students attend Garden City Public Schools in grades kindergarten through 12. There are three primary schools (grades K and 1), two elementary schools (grades 2-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12). Garden City is a high-performing school district and enjoys a reputation for excellence in both academics and athletics. Qualifications:Candidates should possess the following qualifications:NYS Administrative Certification (SBL)Teaching experience with an understanding of instructional strategies and student engagementProblem-solving and decision-making capability in addressing student needs and resolving issues with fairness and consistencyEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Specific duties and responsibilities will be determined, but strong logistical expertise and working within a team is essential. The Garden City High School administrative team takes a hands-on approach daily to assist students, staff and parents as situations arise. Typical assistant principal tasks include addressing building supervision, health and safety concerns, classroom observations, student and staff scheduling, event coordination, testing, student management, etc.Start date: Probationary position effective July 1, 2025
