Mission: We strive to give our clients support, resources, and the ability to heal through the work of animal-assisted therapy and nature-based learning all while developing the skills and confidence to grow into independent young adults.Role Overview: Green Chimneys School offers an enriched academic environment with a vast array of innovative programming, including life skills, music and art, therapeutic animal-assisted activities, and outdoor education, all based in experiential learning. The fully integrated approach to education at Green Chimneys includes: Academics, Therapeutic Education, Clinical & Related Services, Animal & Nature Program and Vocational Education. Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Elementary and Middle School House Administrator will provide strong, consistent leadership to the Education Department at the Brewster campus being specifically responsible for the functioning of the Middle School programming. Through a collaborative relationship with all members of the Education team, this position will assist in maintaining a balanced alliance between the Education Department and other departments within the agency, as well all stakeholders outside of Green Chimneys. Specific responsibilities include supervising elementary and middle school classrooms and buildings; responsible for all HR and personnel related activities associated with recruiting, hiring and retaining adequate staffing, primary parent contact of elementary and middle school families after classroom staff, liaison with parents, school districts, and other professionals, participate in CSE meetings and other relevant meetings as needed and conduct training and ensure proper onboarding for newly hired staff. What you bring to Green Chimneys:Master’s degree in Education or other related human service field required OR Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible school related experience required OR Minimum of 3 years supervisory/administrative experience; can consider internal candidate with multiple years’ of agency service without supervisory experience. Experience working in a special education and/or 853 school and knowledge and understanding of New York State Special Education practices and policies required.Licensure/Certification: New York State School Administration Certification, or the ability to obtain one within six years.Starting Salary: $70,000 Without Administrative Certification; $80,000 With NYS Administrative Certification.
