Garrison Union Free School District is seeking a Teaching Assistant for its Elementary School 12:1:1 Special Class program. Prior special education experience is preferred. Candidates must either possess or be willing to obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification.RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaboration and communication with staff on behalf of the students’ success; Support the students’ academic, emotional and behavioral needs as indicated by their IEPs;Provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences;Attend therapies outside of the classroom with the student and support the student in applying learned strategies in the classroom;Knowledge of de-escalation and self-management strategies and implementation;Implement targeted interventions and behavior plans;Assist with related instructional work as required;Maintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, data, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirements;Performs general tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready.The Garrison Union Free School District is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes all candidates.
