The Fulton City School District is seeking a passionate and skilled Orchestra Teacher to lead our string programs at both the junior high and elementary levels for the 2026-2027 school year. Key Responsibilities Junior High Leadership: Direct the Junior High Orchestra, including conducting rehearsals and providing advanced instrumental lessons. Granby Elementary Strings: Lead the beginning and intermediate orchestra program, focusing on core technical foundations, music literacy, and ensemble playing. Recruitment: Actively recruit and retain string students as they transition from the elementary program into the junior high ensembles. Concerts & Festivals: Organize and lead seasonal concerts for both schools and prepare students for NYSSMA solo and ensemble evaluations. Requirements & Qualifications Certification: Valid New York State Certification in Music (K-12). Expertise: Mastery of orchestral string pedagogy (Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education required (Master’s preferred). Attributes: Strong organizational skills to manage a split-building schedule and a collaborative spirit to work with the district-wide music department. Compensation & Benefits Starting Salary: $63,746 (BA/BS) Master’s Degree Stipend: $2,598 Graduate Credit: Additional $145 per credit towards a Master’s degree Experience Credit: $500 per year of certified teaching experience Full Benefits: Comprehensive medical/dental insurance and enrollment in the NYS Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS).
