Senior Data Manager | Freeport Public Schools Status: Administrative (Non-Civil Service | 12-Month) Designation: Management/Confidential Reports To: Assistant Superintendent and Director of Technology Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 (Commensurate with experience) Position Summary The Senior Data Manager serves as the district’s primary architect for data integrity and state compliance. This role oversees the lifecycle of student and staff data across the Student Information System (SIS), Frontline Professional Growth (MyLearningPlan), and NYSED reporting portals. The Senior Data Manager ensures that data translates into actionable insights for instructional leadership while maintaining 100% compliance with New York State reporting mandates. Key Responsibilities 1. SIS Architecture & Systems Management System Ownership: Lead the configuration, maintenance, and annual rollover of the District’s Student Information System (e.g., Infinite Campus, eSchool, or PowerSchool). Master Scheduling Support: Oversee the technical setup of district calendars, bell schedules, and course catalogs to ensure seamless instructional operations. Security & Governance: Manage user permissions and data privacy protocols in alignment with NY State Education Law 2-d . Interoperability: Ensure data flows accurately between the SIS and third-party instructional platforms (e.g., Clever, Canvas, Renaissance). 2. NYSED Compliance & State Reporting (SIRS) Data Validation: Act as the primary lead for SIRS (Student Information Repository System) data loads, including Level 0, Level 1, and Level 2 movements. Certification Oversight: Prepare, validate, and troubleshoot all state-mandated reports: BEDS Day, Day in Membership, VR Reports, SSEC (Safety), and Special Education snapshots. Audit Readiness: Maintain auditable records of data submissions and serve as the district liaison to the Nassau BOCES Regional Information Center (RIC) . 3. Professional Growth & Staff Data (Frontline/MLP) CTLE Tracking: Manage the Frontline Professional Growth platform to ensure accurate tracking of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) hours. Staff Snapshots: Coordinate with HR to ensure Staff Snapshot and Staff Assignment data aligns with NYSED requirements for teacher certification and APPR. 4. Analytics & Instructional Support Dashboards: Develop custom SQL queries or data visualizations (Excel, Power BI, or Tableau) to help administrators track chronic absenteeism, graduation rates, and assessment trends. Staff Training: Design and deliver professional development for clerical and administrative staff on data entry best practices to ensure "clean" data at the source. Qualifications & Skills Certification: Valid NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School Building Leader (SBL) certification required. Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. Experience: 3+ years of direct experience in a K-12 data environment. Specific expertise in NYS SIRS reporting is non-negotiable. Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel: (Pivot Tables, Power Query). Systems: Familiarity with SQL and NYSED Portals (SEDDAS, IDEx). Soft Skills: Proven ability to translate complex data requirements into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
