Freeport Public Schools seeks an Industrial Arts teacher to join our team of innovative technology teachers. Industrial arts, also known as technology education, is an educational program focused on developing practical skills and knowledge related to the use of tools, machines, and materials in manufacturing and design. It aims to familiarize students with various technical and trade areas, including woodworking, metalworking, electronics, and more. While not directly preparing students for specific trades, it provides a foundation for understanding and participating in an industrial society.The ideal candidate will have a/an:Innovative mindset for incorporating technology, digital fabrication (3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC routers) & mechanical fabrication into technology coursesIn depth knowledge of the engineering and design processKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthAbility to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomesAbility to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunitiesCandidates must possess:Appropriate NYS certificationAbility to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, and staffUnderstanding of meeting the needs of multicultural studentsAN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
