ANTICIPATED OPENING 2024-2025 (Probationary English Language Arts Teacher – Full Time - High School [9-12]Freeport Public School District's English Department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students while fostering a positive and culturally responsive learning environment. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the New York State English Language Arts Next Generation Learning Standards and cater to diverse learning styles- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and cultural awareness- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and to share best practices- Utilize high leverage instructional strategies to support a lifelong appreciation for reading and writing- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleaguesKey Qualifications: - Appropriate NYS Certification - Motivated and passionate about teaching English Language Arts- Strong background in literature and the writing process- Knowledge of the NYS English Regents and rubrics- Collaborative mindset, eager to work in a team-oriented environment- Culturally responsive approach to teaching including valuing and incorporating diverse backgrounds- Strong grasp of using technology to enhance teaching and learning- Candidates with experience teaching Advanced Placement courses are preferred but not required- Strong organizational and communication skills- Bilingual/ENL Certified Candidates are encouraged to apply
