OverviewInstructional Coaches understand and promote the district’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. This teacher-leader’s primary responsibility is to coach and support teachers by providing direct feedback and lesson modeling in the interest of improving their practice, supporting our instructional programs and achieving greater student learning outcomes in Literacy, Math and the content areas for grades K-6.Responsibilities Conduct planning conferences Create example lessons Facilitates professional development workshops Research and demonstrate instructional strategies Encourages participation and open discussion Ensures all educator development is completed successfully Provide reporting documentation as required Facilitate and support development, group discussion and feedback with staff Communicate actively with administrators Analyze data to monitor progress towards district goalsQualifications New York State certified (various areas of expertise qualify) In-depth knowledge of the ELA and Math standards K-6 At least 5 years experience working with K-6 students in a school setting Experience teaching math, literacy, and technology curriculum in grades K-6 Deep understanding of Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading, Benchmark Assessment System, Continuum of Literacy Learning and Leveled Literacy Intervention, and the Writing Units of Study Deep understanding of responsive teaching and learning progressions for both literacy and math Experience with curriculum writing and pacing Experience delivering professional development workshops to adults. Experience with using data to drive instruction Experience supporting a multilinguistic curriculum Experience working with ENL and Special Education students and staff Experience integrating technology to enhance literacy instruction Excellent communication skills are essential.
