The Farmingdale School District is seeking a collaborative and student-centered Grade 6 ELA Teacher to join a strong middle school English Language Arts department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction aligned with the New York State Next Generation ELA Learning Standards, developing students’ skills in reading, writing, discussion, research, and critical thinking while using assessment to inform instruction and support diverse learners. An understanding of the academic, social, and developmental needs of middle school learners is a must, as is the 5-6 extension. Bilingual a plus. The department operates within a structured Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. Teachers collaborate regularly with colleagues, curriculum leaders, and administrators to analyze student work, share instructional strategies, and ensure a consistent, high-quality grade-level experience for all students. The successful candidate will foster a classroom environment that values inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and evidence-based thinking. Must: Understanding of and experience working with middle school learners New York State English Language Arts 7–12 certification with a 5–6 extension
