The Franklin Central School District is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to serve as its School Counselor. The job duties of a school counselor can vary but generally, they include: Academic Guidance: Helping students navigate course selection, ensuring they meet graduation requirements, and providing information on academic programs and opportunities. Student schedules and school master schedule (School Committee). Use of distance learning courses used to enrich student schedules and course offerings. College and Career Counseling: Assisting students with college applications, exploring career options, and providing resources for scholarships and financial aid. SUNY Broome College Express. Personal and Social Development: Providing individual and group counseling to help students deal with personal issues such as stress, anxiety, peer relationships, and family problems. Crisis Intervention: Responding to crises such as student conflicts, bullying, substance abuse, and emotional trauma, and providing support and referrals as needed. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs. Conflict Resolution: Mediating conflicts between students, teachers, and parents, and promoting a positive school climate through conflict resolution strategies. Outreach and Education: Organizing workshops, seminars, and parent education programs on topics such as bullying prevention, study skills, and mental health awareness. Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. Character Strong; MTSS; Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Data Analysis: Collecting and analyzing data on student achievement, behavior, and attendance to identify trends and inform decision-making. Advocacy: Serving as an advocate for students' needs and interests within the school community and advocating for policies and programs that promote student success. Consultation: Consulting with outside agencies, community organizations, and mental health professionals to coordinate services and support for students and families. *NYS Certification Required
