Job Summary: The Assistant Superintendent for Business serves as a key member of the school district's leadership team, providing strategic direction and oversight of all financial and operational functions to support the district's educational mission. This individual will work collaboratively with the Superintendent, Board of Education, and other administrators to ensure effective management of resources, compliance with state and federal regulations, capital projects and the efficient delivery of services across the district. The Assistant Superintendent will also play a pivotal role in advising on financial strategies and fostering a culture of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and operational excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: Establishes strategic direction and provides leadership of the financial and business operations of the district. Responsible for the business affairs of the school district, including administration of payroll, accounting, accounts payable, and receivable, investments, short- and long-term borrowing, insurance, purchasing, taxes, debt services and other fiscal matters. Manages all labor contracts and terms and conditions of employment, works with the school district council to settle all contract grievances, and develops Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) to be considered by the Board of Education. Working with District Labor Counsel is a member of the District’s negotiating team for all contracts, attending all meetings and negotiating session, and providing updates and analysis to the Board of Education. Establish accounting records and procedures to conform to District policy, state and federal requirements and install procedures for encumbrance, expense revenue accounting and distribution of revenues into proper fund accounts. Prepare and submit reports and studies for state and federal governments, for the Superintendent and Board as required and on a timely basis. Assist the Superintendent of Schools in the development of the annual budgeting calendar, procedures and forms and acts as the budget control officer coordinating compilation of the line item budget. Develop cooperatively, with the District Treasurer, cash flow projections, investment and borrowing strategies of the District. Leads the oversight and management of capital project budgets, ensuring alignment with district goals, fiscal responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
