Floral Park-Bellerose School District is seeking a responsible, organized, and student-centered Lunch Monitor Lead to support the safe and effective operation of our daily lunch and recess periods. The Lunch Monitor Supervisor will work collaboratively with school administration to provide leadership, direction, and support to lunch monitors while helping to maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for all students. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee and provide daily direction to lunch monitors during student lunch and recess periods. Coordinate lunch monitor assignments and coverage to ensure appropriate supervision of all designated areas. Support the implementation of consistent cafeteria and recess routines, procedures, and expectations. Promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment for students during lunch and recess. Assist lunch monitors with the supervision and management of large groups of students. Respond appropriately to student concerns, conflicts, minor behavioral issues, and safety concerns, seeking administrative support when necessary. Communicate promptly with school administration regarding student incidents, safety concerns, staffing needs, or other issues requiring follow-up. Meet with the administration and/or other supervisory staff as needed to discuss assignments, procedures, concerns, and areas of need. Help orient and support lunch monitors in understanding school expectations, responsibilities, safety procedures, and student supervision practices. Assist in arranging coverage in the event of lunch monitor absences or changes in daily assignments. Maintain appropriate records and documentation as requested by school administration. Model professionalism, punctuality, dependability, confidentiality, and positive communication. Perform other lunch/recess supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and provide direction to staff. Ability to understand and implement school procedures and administrative expectations. Demonstrated ability to supervise large groups of elementary-aged students and maintain a safe and orderly environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, support staff, lunch monitors, and students. Dependable attendance and punctuality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience working in a school or other child-centered setting. Previous experience supervising or coordinating staff. Experience working with elementary-aged students. CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred. Familiarity with student supervision, conflict resolution, and positive behavior-support practices. WORK SCHEDULE Monday–Friday during student lunch/recess periods Specific hours and schedule will be determined based on the needs of elementary school. COMPENSATION As per the terms and conditions established by the Floral Park-Bellerose Union Free School District for non-affiliated employees.
