The Floral Park-Bellerose School District, a Pre-K through Grade 6 elementary district in western Nassau County, has an opening for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in a Special Education Primary Class (8:1:2) starting approximately May 1, 2026. Special Education certification and experience in an 8:1:2 class is required. Qualifications and Selection Criteria: NYS Permanent or Professional Special Education or NYS Students with Disabilities Certification. Knowledge of multi-disciplinary instructional techniques, research-based interventions for teaching academics as well as behavior, and strategies for collecting data and monitoring academic/behavioral progress. Knowledge of/experience with developing and implementing positive behavioral supports, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and functional behavioral assessments (FBAs). Experience with classroom management, IEP goal development and progress monitoring. General Responsibilities: Provide instruction and support for students with autism and other intellectual disabilities. Use ABA instruction and AAC devices. Work positively with staff and communicate effectively with administration/parents. Lead classroom staff and collaborate with other members of the special education team. Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis. Work closely with other related services providers not limited to SLT, OT, PT, Psychologists and Behavior Consultant. Supervise and guide 1:1 Aides and Teaching Assistants. Take, analyze and make decisions based on data APPLICATION: Apply via OLAS only.
