RESPONSIBILITIES:Curriculum and Instruction1) Establishes long term goals for each child.2) Establishes intermediate goals.3) Logs progress.4) Formulates daily lesson plans for each child.Scheduling and Grouping1) Groups children according to dysfunction and age.2) Schedules when a child will be seen taking into account class schedule of child and federal and state regulations.Testing1) Screens all kindergarten and first grade children each September and predicts which children might self-correct by the third year.2) Screens students second grade and above who were previously treated for speech problems, on the waiting list to get treatment, and who are new students to the District.3) Does in depth testing for all children coming into the program.4) Monitors progress of each child in the program.Record Keeping and Reporting1) Records results of screening and testing and sends report to Director of Pupil Personnel-Guidance, each child's teachers, and the principal. Report includes diagnosis and recommendations.2) Sends mid-year and end of year progress reports of each child's progress to Director of Pupil Personnel-Guidance, each child's teachers, and the principal.3) Sends progress reports to parents at mid-year and end of year.4) Writes Individual Education Programs.5) Keeps an individual file on students in program.Conferences1) Holds parent conferences on request, especially in cases where dysfunction results from effects of home environment.2) Holds teacher conferences on request.Meetings1) Attends building level Child Study Team Meetings.2) Attends Committee on Special Education as needed.Other responsibilities related to the general role.
