The Florida Union Free School District anticipates an opening for Principal at Golden Hill Elementary School. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Anticipated start date is July 3, 2023.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Experience as a teacher and/or administrator with a master’s degree course work as required by New York State.Requirements:New York State Certification as School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), School Building Administrator (SBA), or School District Administrator (SDA).Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all aspects of instructional and support services.Understanding of research trends in education and instructional leadership.Experience creating personalized learning environments that enhance student ownership of learning and support student attainment of high academic standardsEnthusiasm, communication and organizational skills necessary to support diverse and multiple initiatives at once.Teacher supervision and evaluation experience is preferred.Knowledge and understanding of building operations involving students, teachers, and non-instructional personnel; business, school/community and special services. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Principal will collaborate and be responsible to all members of the administrative leadership team in the planning and development of successful initiation and implementation of vertically and horizontally aligned instructional programs. The Elementary School Principal shall assist the Superintendent in the effective operations of the School District and its educational system. The Principal shall be responsible leading the implementation of all aspects of instructional and supportive services in the elementary school, involving students, teachers, and non-instructional personnel; business, school/community and special services. The major activities of the elementary school Principal are outlined below. In the performance of these responsibilities, the Principal shall be bound by the same professional standards, policies, by-laws, and regulations as is the Superintendent. The Principal shall have commensurate authority to accomplish the duties set forth below. CORE ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS:Pupil Services Shape a vision of academic success for all students and serve as instructional leader within the building.Establish and maintain an inclusive and respectful school environment.Supervise the elementary school attendance program and procedures to assure compliance with regulation and promote the best possible student attendance.Utilize student data in making instructional decisions and lead in planning and goal setting for student achievement. Ensure the timely and accurate recording of student grades and assessment results and assure the provision of regular performance reports to parents.Create a shared instructional vision within the school community through the creation of organizational structures that engage teachers, support staff, students, and families in shared decision-making. Teacher Services Create a school environment that is continuously developing the social capital that allows people to trust, depend on and learn from each other.Build intellectual capital by playing a substantive role in curriculum choices, in establishing expectations for the quality of student work, in analyzing the form and quality of teaching and in organizing targeted opportunities for teachers in the school to learn the specifics of teaching their subject matters well.Develop scheduling structures and teacher assignments within the elementary school that allow for the highest levels of engagement. Lead teacher/staff observations and evaluations, as defined by the District’s organizational chart, that that acknowledges distinguished teaching and professional growth, supporting retention of distinguished faculty and leadership development.Schedule and conduct all assessments in accordance with policy, procedure, and regulation.Support the revision and preparation of the annual District Faculty Handbook and be fully responsible for the oral and written communication of building level procedures and expectations for staff.Business Services Assist with the development of the school budget as directed by the Superintendent and collaborate with administrators, teachers, and staff to assure alignment of expenditures to student needsSupervise and manage elementary school requisitioning and assume responsibility for distribution of supplies and approval of completed orders for payment.Annually assess the elementary school's inventories and determine ongoing purging and purchasing.Non-Instructional Services Direct and coordinate the activities of the non-instructional staff in the elementary school.Supervise and evaluate support staff in the elementary school as defined by the District’s organizational chart.School/Community ServicesRepresent the Superintendent in School District community affairs and be responsible for school/community relations and events in collaboration with the PTA/PTSA, BLT and DAT as they relate to the elementary school.Assist the Superintendent in the preparation of newsletters and other public relations matters. All press releases will be approved by the Superintendent.Assist in coordinating and supporting evening and weekend utilization of the elementary school in accordance with District policy and procedures. Special ServicesAssume responsibility for; executing procedures to secure substitutes, conduct building fire inspections, building security, and any other special services as may come within the scope of the position and as may be requested by the Superintendent. Provide feedback to the administrative team to impact the continuous improvement of District procedures.
