Fort Edward UFSD is currently seeking a candidate to fill an anticipated vacancy of a full-time, 12-month, School District Treasurer. Under the direction of the School Business Official, the incumbent oversees the cash management program, manages banking structure and relationships, manages tax billing and collections, all receivables due to the district, and year-end processes. This position works closely with the School Business Official to develop and implement internal controls and cash management policies.Performance and responsibilities:Administers the accounting principles of the District efficiently and expeditiously to ensure fiscal accountability.Serves as the chief accounting officer of the District; records ledger activity including opening and closing entries, monthly journal entries, budget transfers and adjusting entries.Responsible for all cash receipts including: depositing of all funds, initiating electronic funds transfers, preparing bank reconciliations, reconciling tax collections and state aid/grant funds.Prepares forecast reports and directs the District’s cash investment program.Manages Federal Grants program – coordinates budgetary process, prepares payroll certification and prepares final cost reports.Performs year-end financial processes including but not limited to, GASB 75 analysis, fiscal year rollover, annual financial reporting & regulatory audits, annual fixed assets inventory, and depreciation schedules.Provides support to the Senior Account Clerk/Typists for payroll, accounts payable and Purchasing Agent. Prepares monthly reports of monies received, disbursed and District’s financial status.Serves as district point person with auditors including the coordination of scheduling annual field visits, cooperates with the auditors and provides information as requested.Prepares work papers, schedules and journal entries for year-end audit.Performs duties as extra-classroom treasurer.Prepares and submits quarterly and annual tax reports (941, sales tax).Manages and oversees the tax collection process (Washington County).Provides backup support to the Payroll Clerk. Warrant preparation – inputting invoice information and printing checks for mailing.Processing of checks for all funds throughout the month. Coordinating all back activities including deposits, account transfers, monitoring accounts and collateral reports. Reconciling and compiling information for filing monthly lunch claim reimbursement reports.Assists the Special Education Office with Medicaid and STAC reporting as needed.Prepares annual financial report (ST3) and assists school business official with annual State Aid Claim document.All other duties as assigned and customary to the business officeQualifications:Preferred 4-year degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
