The Director of World Languages, ELL and FLES leads the development, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the World Languages Program, ELL Program and FLES Program, to ensure that all students meet and exceed the New York State Learning Standards.Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000 (commensurate with experience)Application Deadline: March 31, 2024Certification: School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)Must apply through through the District website at www.esmonline.org/personnel/homeDuties and Responsibilities:Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate peopleDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learningPossesses effective presentation skills when addressing students, staff, parents, and the community, including appropriate vocabulary and examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate and audible speechEstablish and promote high standards and expectations for students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behaviorWork cooperatively and collectively with Principals, Administrators and other staff to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools and are administered uniformly and equitablyEnsure coordination of services and articulation between the secondary and elementary levels of the instructional programs by communicating frequently with staff and other administratorsProvide supervisory and coordinating responsibility for instructional programs in the New York State Common Core Learning Standards Leadership of the program shall include:Use of data to identify student and instructional needsClear procedures for the operation and functioning of the various programsCurriculum development to meet the New York State Learning StandardsVertical and horizontal articulation of skills and content sequenceConsistent and regular program evaluationClear communications among staffStaff development to expand and improve skillsAnalysis of assessments to improve instructionCoordination and close working relationships with all colleaguesEvaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipmentApplication for grants and monitoring grants; and compliance with all state and federal mandates.Observe and evaluate staff in the World Languages, ELL and FLES Programs and provide input and recommendationsDevelop and supervise an effective and comprehensive World Languages, ELL and FLES Program, which encompasses all areas of the curriculumProvide leadership to World Languages, ELL and FLES staff in coordinating their efforts in educational matters with the rest of the schoolKeep abreast of developments in World Languages, ELL and FLES Programs and furnish leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational programCoordinate school and community resources for students who need specialized assistance, including the services of the guidance counselor, social worker, nurse, psychologist, special education teacher, attendance team, and others who may assist the student and familyCoordinate the purchasing of instructional materials and equipment under the supervision of the Assistant SuperintendentCommunicate with the Superintendent and with the principals regularly about the needs, successes, and general operation of the various programs and services
