Director of K-12 Social StudiesSchool District Leader Certification or School District Administrator Certification7-10 years social studies teaching experience.Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Curriculum Related Responsibilities: Oversees the overall function and delivery of ESM’s K-12 Social Studies Curriculum with an emphasis on vertical and horizontal articulation within, and between all grade levels. Maintains an understanding of NYSED P-12 Social Studies Standards and can support implementation K-12.Conducts Annual Needs Assessment in Collaboration with Administration and Faculty and Staff to determine short- and long-term goals for K-12 Social Studies curriculum.Provides K-12 Staff Development aligned with Instructional Best Practices in the field of Social Studies Education.Assists in the development and implementation of appropriate assessments to provide data on student achievement (including benchmark assessments and interventions).Supervision Related Responsibilities:Supervises the implementation of the K-12 Social Studies curriculum through formal and informal teacher observation, evaluation, and coordination of professional development. Determines, plans, and/or implements professional development, in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to promote district vision, goals, and initiatives.
