Elementary General Music/Chorus Teacher — Probationary The East Rockaway School District is anticipating an opening for a probationary elementary general music/chorus teacher. This position is being advertised for both Centre Avenue and Rhame Avenue Elementary Schools combined. The district is seeking a motivated leader who meets the following qualifications: New York State Certification: Music K-12 required Experience: We welcome applications from individuals at all levels of experience The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities: Experience recruiting and retaining choral students. Delivering high-quality instruction in both large ensemble and class settings Familiarity with preparing soloists and ensembles for NYSSMA adjudication Strong knowledge of technology and its integration into the music classroom Knowledge of the fundamentals of music including an understanding and appreciation of all different styles of music, including curriculum geared towards students not enrolled in a performing group Ability to work with a variety of media High level of piano proficiency preferred Experience working with students with special needs. Applicants should be prepared to audition on their major instrument The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities, which are subject to change: General Music classes for grades K-6 in two elementary buildings combined Chorus for grades 3-6 in the same two buildings, where professionals work collegially and collaboratively The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package as established in the East Rockaway Teacher’s Association Contract for the 2026-27 school year.
