Assistant Principal Reports to: Building Principal Education/Certification:Master’s DegreeValid NYS School Building Leader certificateQualifications:Minimum of 5 years teaching experienceMinimum of 2 years administrative experienceExceptional communication and facilitation skillsExperience in and/or demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement workshops, including presentations to adults and studentsKnowledge of varied teaching strategies and methods of staff development including the principles of adult learningAbility to manage many projects at once and prioritize wellOrganizational and decision-making skills to ensure projects are cost effective and funds are managed/monitored wiselyPosition Goals:Provides leadership in the improvement of instruction, organization and operation of the school program under the supervision of the school Principal and written in the School Comprehensive Education Plan.Serves as an aid to the Principal in discharging their duties and assumes full responsibility for all duties delegated by the principal.Actively works on District initiatives developed by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction Major Responsibilities and Duties:Assist in the supervision of the school’s instructional program for the purpose of instruction and the learning environment.Assist Principal in conducting staff observations and evaluations Assist Principal with maintaining SEL Curriculum for students and adultsContinue and infuse resources into the curriculum that focus on diversity and equity Communicate orally and in writing with school staff, district staff, pupils, parents and community as directed by the Principal.Conduct individual and group conferences for staff, parent, and school needs.Plan, organize, administer and schedule instructional and non-instructional programs and activities.Work with the relevant Executive Director of Education and building principal to design and provide professional development focused on improving alignment and delivery of the written, taught, and tested curriculum to increase student achievement and close performance gaps.Member of the Curriculum Development and Refinement efforts by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, to ensure what is written, taught, and tested in the content area is in service of the Strategic Academic and Fiscal Plan and annual District Comprehensive Improvement Plan goals.Other duties as assigned by Principal
