Job DescriptionWe are looking for eager, dynamic, and enthusiastic Instructors for East Ramapo’s Expanded School Year Summer Program. The Instructor supports the culture and functions of the program by supervising the students of the program, taking daily attendance, delivering ELA and Math instruction, providing enrichment and monitoring student performance. Expanded School Year Summer ProgramsAdventure Academy (entering Grades 1-3); July 11-August 18At the Expeditionary Adventure Academy every day is a new learning experience with daily rotations related to overarching weekly themes. Students will be provided with interactive learning opportunities, journaling, & peer-discussion groups, while addressing Social-Emotional Learning, & using a growth mindset approach to enrich all students. Great for elementary students who have an interest in science & nature in the outdoors! All Sports Academy (entering Grades 4-8); July 11-August 18This interdisciplinary program is designed to meet the academic & fitness needs of our young people. Students in grades 4-6 will focus on increasing movement literacy by experiencing a variety of physical activities & games that will contribute to an active & healthy lifestyle without the competitiveness that comes with traditional team sports. In addition, students will be introduced to individual & team sports offered at East Ramapo CSD. Computer Science Academy (entering Grade 1-8); July 11-August 18This institute is hands-on, experiential learning with a focus on the cognitive skills to build student capacity to become innovators, creators, & critical thinkers. Fine and Performing Arts Academy (entering Grades 1-12); July 11-August 18In addition to music tutoring & lessons, the Fine & Performing Arts Academy program will grow the academic capacity of students through an artistic lens. Culminating demonstrations of learning range from musical concerts to performing or publishing original music, theatrical creations, or poetry. Freshman Academy (entering Grade 9); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThe Freshman Academy program will provide both academic and emotional support for students entering high school through orientation activities, assistance with study skills and organizational habits, and proactive postsecondary-planning guidance to support students throughout high school. Students will also learn social-emotional skills, identify personal behaviors that may affect their success in high school, and identify and reflect on their goals for the future. Qualifications Prior experience in the associated program of interest, preferable 5 year of experience supervising and working with children, preferably as a summer counselor, teacher, or in an educational setting General mobility including, but not limited, to walking, kneeling, and standing Proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for large groups of children Certification in CPR and AED, preferred for All Sports Academy Staff with experience in the following areas needed for the Fine and Performing Arts Academy: Instrumental, Chorus, Theater, Music Lessons (SMI), Visual Art Responsibilities Reports to the Program Director Engage with colleagues and supervisors during staff training and learning opportunities Provide daily instruction to students 30-40 minutes of ELA, Math, and program specific activities with written/ submitted lesson plans, learning targets Supervise and instruct 15-20 students at a time Work as a contributing member of a team Take daily attendance of students Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques Prepare and lead a variety of activities that are age-appropriate Model good behavior for students as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of our students Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner Assist in the arrival and dismissal of students Perform additional/related duties as assigned by the Program Director Dates/Days/HoursStaff Development: Wednesday, July 5 and Thursday, July 6, Friday, July 8th* from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10 for one (1) hourProgram: July 10-August 17; Monday thru Thursday; 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.*Tentative Staff Development Session SalaryStaff Development: $35/hour (not to exceed 13 hours total)Program: $48.00/hour (5 hours per day)
