Elmira City School DistrictExPRESS Project - Reading InterventionistDescription: Secondary Reading Interventionist (Broadway Academy & Elmira High School)Terms of Employment: Grant Funded through 2026 - Up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week/40 weeks) through multiple part time roles of .2 FTE to .8 FTE. Qualifications: NYS Teaching Certification in any subject area (K-12) appropriate. The ideal candidate will have successful teaching experience in a secondary school setting; extensive background in designing and delivering tiered interventions; proven ability to manage, compile, and benchmark data; and strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.Responsibilities: The Reading Interventionist will fulfill a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of interventions to promote students’ reading skills. The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for the collection and presentation of data from multiple sources to inform planning/intervention meetings and will support classroom teachers in implementation of strategies to improve student learning.Instruction/TrainingCo-teach with content area teachers to provide literacy support to students during content area instructionProvide small group instruction to differentiate for student needDesign reading seminars aligned to Read 180 pedagogy to include whole group, small group, and individual supportSupport training of Special Education consultant teachers and other staff in delivery of targeted literacy interventionsCoordinate and deliver interventions to students participating in reading seminarsDevelop strategies and instruments to maintain and monitor the fidelity of selected strategies and interventions (implementation checklists, etc.)Collaborate with the Data Curriculum Coordinators to model and support implementation of differentiation and scaffolding in core classesMaintain and disseminate relevant resources to promote teachers’ capacity to deliver universal and targeted literacy interventionsCollaborate with the ELA teachers to set pacing for skill focus in alignment with scope and sequencePromote the practice of reading in reading seminarsPlanning/Coordination/CollaborationParticipate in Student Success planning meetingsMeet regularly with Project Coordinator and other project staff as requestedServe on the District Literacy CommitteeCollaborate with the Project Coordinator, secondary building administrators, and other secondary Reading Interventionists to align interventions and protocols across grade levels and buildingsCoordinate intervention structures with elementary reading specialists and middle school AIS teachers to ensure a continuum of supportProfessional DevelopmentParticipate in all project-related training delivered by outside consultants, the Project Coordinator, and Data Curriculum CoordinatorsParticipate in other professional growth activities that result in enhanced knowledge of intervention methods and designParticipate in district-mandated professional development experiences
