Location: Building and Grounds Hours: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Effective: August 2024 Description: Maintenance Mechanic III is a skilled mechanic having plumbing/mechanical background in the repair and maintenance of the following: General plumbing systems, air compressors, pneumatic systems, boilers, H&V units, and AC units.Skills Required: Thorough knowledge of practice, materials, tools and methods of plumbing/mechanical systems. Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures (such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters) Perform skilled work in operating, repairing and maintaining cooling /heating valves and coils, ventilation equipment, pneumatics, boilers, chain/belt driven and other mechanical assemblies. Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques. Also completes light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, and electrical work as required. Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with this work and must adhere to all plumbing building codes and regulations. Direct subordinate maintenance mechanics that assist in performing assigned tasks. A master plumber’s license is preferred.Compensation: In accordance with the contract between the District and Local 237, I.B.T. (International Brotherhood of Teamsters).
