Position Overview: We are looking for a patient, energetic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in an 8:1:2 special education classroom serving children on the autism spectrum. Students in this classroom use AAC devices and benefit from structured routines and individualized support. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Special Education Teacher to support student learning, communication, and behavior in a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct support to students during instruction and daily routines Assist students in using AAC devices and other communication supports Implement teacher-directed instructional activities and behavior support plans Support students with transitions, social interactions, and self-regulation Collect data on student progress as directed by the teacher Help maintain a structured, organized, and safe classroom environment Collaborate with the teacher and related service providers Qualifications: High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred Experience working with children, especially those with special needs (preferred) Willingness to learn AAC systems and evidence-based practices Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills Patient, flexible, and proactive approach
