Immediate: The Elmsford UFSD is anticipating an opening for a Replacement for a 0.5 Part Time ESL Teacher. The qualified candidate will be responsible for the responsibilities of an Elmsford UFSD ESL Teacher including creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans 5 days per week. Candidate should be able to provide direct instruction to students in the listening, speaking, reading and writing of English; Hold conferences with classroom teachers periodically throughout the year to evaluate the progress of each student in content areas; Coordinate instructional services with Special Education and Speech and Learning teachers who serve the ESL students; follow-up with the teacher of a specific subject area in which the student is experiencing difficulty by helping to identify the problem, supplying information from ESL research and theory that will help the teacher understand the nature and extent of the problem and suggesting alternative methods when possible; Problem solving on general issues is usually done with the ESL teacher as part of the instructional team; Assist in the instructional process by supplementing materials used in the classroom, reading a test to a student and reviewing methods of evaluation when asked to do so by classroom teachers; Meet with all parents to explain their role in the education process and the teacher’s role as an ESL student advocate; Provide staff development in the area of ESL by polling the teachers and providing in-service training for any area of concern; general knowledge of Common Core Learning StandardsAll Candidates must have the appropriate New York State ESL or TESOL certification. The preferred candidate will also have a valid NYS Special Education certification. Teaching experience is desired. Bilingual abilities, Knowledge of eSchoolData, IEPDirect and collaborative teaching methods are a plus.
