Eldred Central School District is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and dynamic Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Business, or Technology Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 7-12 to develop the academic, practical, and career-ready skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world. While candidates holding certification in Family and Consumer Sciences, Business Education, or Technology Education are encouraged to apply, the District is particularly interested in individuals who can empower students through real-world learning experiences that promote life skills, financial literacy, career exploration, problem-solving, collaboration, and responsible decision-making. The successful candidate will create an engaging, hands-on learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and meaningful connections between classroom learning and real-world applications. Through standards-based instruction and authentic learning experiences, this educator will help students develop the knowledge and skills needed for future success in college, careers, and life. At Eldred Junior-Senior High School, we empower students in grades 7-12 to build the foundational academic, social, technological, and practical skills necessary to become productive, informed, and engaged members of their communities. Required Qualifications Certification: Must hold a valid New York State (NYS) Teaching Certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Technology Teacher, or Business Teacher. Education Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, in one of the following areas: FACS: Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, or a related field. Business: Valid New York State (NYS) Teaching Certificate in Business and Marketing (or applicable Technology/Business certification for grades 7–12). Technology: Bachelor’s degree in Technology Education, Computer Science, STEM. Skills & Core Competencies Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with middle and high school students while supporting their academic, career, and personal growth. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, community members, and business partners. Strong organizational and time-management skills to maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient classroom, laboratory, or project-based learning environment, including the management of instructional materials, equipment, technology, and inventory. Ability to integrate project-based learning, hands-on experiences, real-world applications, and current industry trends into daily instruction. Proficiency in utilizing instructional technology, industry-relevant tools, and diverse educational resources to enhance student engagement, support learning objectives, and prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth and the ability to adapt instructional practices to evolving educational standards, industry trends, workforce needs, and emerging developments within the assigned certification area. Collaborative mindset with a willingness to contribute to school-wide initiatives, interdisciplinary opportunities, and partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals. Family And Consumer Sciences (FACS) Certification Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in Family and Consumer Sciences to middle and/or high school students. Teach diverse, practical topics including nutrition, culinary arts, child/human development, personal financial literacy, and career preparation. Develop daily lesson plans and long-term units that directly align with NYSED FACS learning standards. Utilize differentiated instruction strategies to meet the varied learning needs, styles, and abilities of all students, including ELL and IEP/504 populations. Create a safe, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. Business Teacher Certification Key Responsibilities & Duties Instruct students in grades 7–12 to promote individual growth in business and marketing skills, teamwork, and collaboration. Core subjects include Financial Literacy, Marketing, Accounting, and Media Literacy. Ensure strict alignment with NYSED’s business and marketing education learning standards, Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Standards, and NY Inspires initiatives. Provide continuous academic and social support to students as they learn and grow, actively helping them prepare for successful transitions to post-secondary settings (college, trade schools, or the workforce). Develop and share real-world business strategies and plans for the purpose of analyzing, discussing, and simulating them with students. Collaborate with local businesses and entrepreneurs to build a monthly calendar of experiential activities for the program, including coordinating guest speakers, class trips, and other student-centered enrichment activities. Technology Teacher Certification Key Responsibilities Teach technology-related subjects to a differentiated student body. Core focus areas include, but are not limited to: digital literacy, computer science, coding, robotics, the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI), and other emerging tech fields. Design, develop, and implement engaging, hands-on, project-based lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities. Establish a collaborative, safe, and stimulating classroom culture that enhances student problem-solving capabilities and real-world application.
