This Network Administrator (School District) position provides leadership and coordination to support the various network and technology systems needed for the Eldred School District to provide instruction for students and staff. These technology systems may include but are not limited to district computer networks (including VPNs, switches, routers, servers, firewalls, and all networked devices), VOIP service management, physical access control systems, and video security systems. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Technology with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel. Does related work as required.Provides coordination of the various educational technology services for Eldred School District;Provides the technical leadership and oversight for the Eldred School District on a wide variety of computer networking solutions and decision-making; Provides the technical leadership that centralizes technology management for instructional planning for the Eldred School District;Provides leadership to manage aspects of the Eldred School District technology infrastructure (e.g., LAN, WAN, VOIP, Security Systems, etc.);Works closely with the leadership teams of the Eldred School District and/or BOCES and its component school districts to plan, implement, and operate a fully networked environment;Efficiently designs and implements high-quality technical support protocols to support the various Eldred technology services.Plans and/or participates in regional Technical Advisory Group meetings to make recommendations for best practices in technology implementation;Represents Eldred School District as learning technologies technical leader for the Eldred School District on Statewide Advisory Councils and Committees;Researches, evaluates, and develops solutions to current and future technology needs of the schools (cybersecurity, physical security, critical system upgrades, etc.);Manages/Recommends/Evaluates new technologies, hardware, and software, as required to fulfill the needs of the Eldred School District;Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technology for computer network hardware and software and cybersecurity;Attends professional training seminars/conferences as required. Work Hours: M-F; 7:00 AM - 3:00 PMMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Computer Programming and one (1) year of senior-level computer system engineering experience in a position involving the installation and tuning of Windows Server 2003 or higher network operating system software and related hardware; or(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, or Computer Programming and three (3) years of senior-level computer system engineering experience as described in (A) above; or(C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of senior-level computer system engineering experience as described in (A) above; or(D) An equivalent combination of experience and training as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.SPECIAL NOTE: Nationally recognized system certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) will be considered as meeting 6 months of experience for each certification.
