Evergreen Charter School will open in September 2025 in the heart of Hempstead, a state-of-the-art secondary school, serving students in grades 7-12. This will be the first secondary school in NY State whose building will receive Platinum LEED status.SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS The School Social Worker’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assess student's emotional and behavioral needs and provide individual and group counseling.Engage in psychologically appropriate and evidence-based counseling with the main goal to support the students in achieving their social, emotional and academic goals.Promote problem solving, anger management, conflict resolution, and reinforce positive coping skills and resilience.Strengthen family-school partnerships by helping families understand their children’s learning needs and connecting families with the service providers when necessary.Guide faculty in adjusting classroom routines to improve student motivation and engagement in the learning process.Monitor student progress in academics and behavior and effectively communicate with faculty and parents.Communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, and administration, and other professionals outside the school.
