The Edgemont Union Free School District is seeking a secondary Teacher of Science (Grades 7-12 NYS certification required) for a tenure track position for the 2025- 2026 school year. Edgemont Junior-Senior High School includes grades 7-12 and has approximately 950 students. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Prior experience as a high school science teacher with experience teaching AP Biology.Extensive knowledge of NYS Science Learning Standards with an emphasis on skill development through a study of biology.Thoughtfully center equity in the daily learning experiences to support the students' awareness of identity and inclusivity. Develop clear, engaging, and relevant lesson plans that appropriately challenge students and demonstrate current educational pedagogy. Exhibit an inclusive philosophy where all students are capable of succeeding regardless of differences and challenges. Exude a joy of learning and an ability to work with students of all skill and ability levels.Build a positive classroom culture that focuses on the development of the whole child.Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Commit to student-centered and student-driven learning experiences with opportunities for student voice and choice. Implement differentiated instruction based upon various data points, student learning styles. Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Certification/Experience:New York State Certification as a Science Education Teacher Grades 7 - 12.
