Teaching Assistant Salary/Pay Scale: Per Contract (ETA Teacher’s Contract)Job Description: TA in Greenville Elementary SchoolReports to: Classroom Teacher/Immediate Supervisor A. FUNCTIONThe Teaching Assistant will assist the instructional program and/ or a cohort of students by performing relative tasks related to educational activities and providing direct instructional service to students. The Teaching Assistant will work under the general supervision of a special education teacher and the building level administrator. This supervision will be both formal and informal.B. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects or programs;2. Assist in the implementation of students' IEP goals and objectives and alternativetesting techniques;3. Implement and provide support for behavioral and or academic management strategies in instructional and non-instructional activities;4. Provide the teacher/supervisor with information about students which will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences, and in the evaluation of students;5. Assist and supervise students during all instructional and non-instructional activities;6. Serve as an appropriate role model to students;7. Attend to health, physical and behavioral needs of students and classrooms as needed;8. Provide support to students and staff in inclusionary situations;9. Assist with data collection, record keeping, and other clerical tasks related to classroom activities;10. Participate in staff development and training to maintain or develop increased professional capacity;11. Participate effectively as a member of the classroom instructional team;12. Attend faculty meetings as appropriate;13. Utilize specialized academic strategies to effectively assist in the instructional assignment and work independently as needed;14. And other such duties may be assigned.
