Edgemont Junior-Senior High School is searching for a Head Debate Coach to lead a dedicated and talented group of students. The program has consistently had nationally ranked debaters and is one of the most competitive high school programs in Westchester. Start Date: September 2023RequirementsOversee and coach the debate team for grades 7–12Schedule 1-2 days a week for after school practiceFacilitate the best possible experience and support the personal goals of each studentDetermine a season calendar that ensures competition opportunities across all formatsConduct after-school debate practice for each format and prepare students for competitionMaintain a robust novice program to develop foundational skills and conceptsProcess student sign-ups, register tournament entries, submit required forms, and pay registration feesAttend all weekend tournaments, provide real-time coaching and feedback during competitionAccompany the team to travel tournaments and coordinate transportation, meals, and lodgingServe as the point of contact for tournament officials before, during, and after competitionHire qualified personnel to fulfill judging obligations, collect tax forms, coordinate logistics and compensationManage the team budget, including timely submission of reimbursement and payment formsCultivate positive working relationships with administrators, parents/guardians, and studentsQualificationsExtensive coaching experience at the high-school and/or college levelCompetition experience in high-school and/or college debate preferredExcellent verbal, written, organization, and management skillsAvailability to work evenings and weekends, including overnightsFamiliarity with local and regional norms, as well as the national circuitPatience, enthusiasm, and versatility working with students of all skill levelsGood standing in the debate community, including national organizationsExpert knowledge and ability to coach Lincoln-Douglas, Parliamentary, Policy, and Public Forum DebateStipended Salary: $46,924
